A Closer Look Through A Different Lens
Gregory Turner, is a 34 year old Long Island based artist living on The North Fork working with a focus on painting in oil, photography, videography/projections, printmaking, assemblage and sculpture. His creative processes are often in an explorative state, incorporating new mediums and techniques.
He studied at New England institute of Technology and worked as an auto-technician and in various industrial/ technical environments in his 20s. With a lifelong passion for the arts Gregory returned to school in 2019 to study visual arts at Suffolk County Community College. Currently he works from his home studio and workshop while also employed at the North Fork Arts Center.
His work infuses daily musings, philosophical and mathematical concepts, lived experiences, memories, ideas, dreams and visions into visual motifs. Transmuting them into objects of contemplation. Often exploring the relationship between the micro and macro. Experimenting with pattern, color, and pigments, their composition and alchemical properties. Driven by a fascination with ancient and modern art influences.
“These works are created in reflection of the mysteries, paradoxes, mathematics and wonders of life.”
“Relating to an unseen world and its relationship to our own personal experience”
